Dorothea Lange was born in Hoboken, New Jersey. She studied photography at Columbia University and worked at a New York portrait studio until 1918. She mostly photographed during the Great Depression. I choose to research her photographs because i liked how they tell a story and leave a big impact on the viewer. She is clearly trying to show the affect the Great Depression had on people. I like that her photographs have meaning.
